This special end‑of‑year celebration brings the AAGG community together in person for a meaningful, joyful afternoon of storytelling, recognition, and reconnection. We are gathering to honor America's 250th anniversary through the most powerful lens we know: the stories of Black families who survived, thrived, and built something extraordinary on unfamiliar shores.
Here is what to look forward to:
This event will also be livestreamed for AAGG members who cannot join us in person. Wherever you are, you belong in this celebration.
At the heart of America 250: Our Ancestors, Our America are the voices of our members. Real stories. Real families. Real proof that Black lives, legacies, and journeys are woven into the very fabric of this nation.
AAGG is extending an open invitation to members who feel called to share a brief family story during the program. We anticipate space for about 4–6 member storytellers, and we will confirm participation as inquiries come in—so reach out early.

You do not need to be a seasoned speaker. You just need a story and the willingness to share it. We will work with you to shape a brief, meaningful presentation that fits naturally and beautifully into the program.
📩 Ready to share your story? Reach out to Teddi Ashhby at newsletter@aagg.org—we would love to hear from you.
Our ancestors did not just survive—they built lives, raised families, and created communities that we are still celebrating today. Legacy Tributes give you the opportunity to honor that legacy in a lasting, tangible way.
A Legacy Tribute is a dedicated message space in our commemorative event booklet. This is the place to uplift the names of ancestors, celebrate the families who shaped you, or express your organization's commitment to preserving family history stories. These tributes will be read, treasured, and kept long after the celebration ends.
